What was your first job?
Working on a farm hay-making when the farmer let me drive the tractor towing a trailer piled high with bales of hay – I was 15½!
What are you most proud of in your career?
Successfully managing my own career changes which also has been great personal development.
What or who has inspired you?
Several wonderful coaches and mentors who have really made a difference.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned?
To recognise the things you can change and the things you cannot.
What is the biggest professional challenge you have faced?
A career change alongside part-time study for a higher level qualification.
Social media – friend or foe?
It’s the way forward, so a friend, but it has to be used effectively otherwise it’s a foe.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Often careful negotiation is far more beneficial than a formal fight.
What advice would you give now to a senior executive looking for their next career move?
Self-reflect on your true strengths and fully embrace the guidance of a career coach.
Looking back on your career so far, what would you change?
The ability to successfully productively use technology much earlier on to develop my career.
